god so loved
the world that he gave his one and only son . . .
"god so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have
eternal life" (
john 3:16 niv). maybe you've heard this before, or maybe you've simply wondered about it.
this passage is one of the most well known of all bible verses. maybe there is a truth in it that superceeds our human wisdom
or understanding. what if someone were to read this verse to you in this way:
god so loved
you that he gave his one and only son that if
you
believe in him,
you shall not perish but have eternal life. god did not send his son to condemn
you but to save
you (
john 3:16,17 niv, paraphrased) ... and i love you!
do you feel god's love for you? god's love is not based on what we are or what we do. his love is unconditional. this is
how god showed his love for you. he sent his one and only son into the world that he might live in you and you through him
(

john 4:9 niv paraphrased).
god cares for you as his child. he created you in his image. he wants you to spend eternity with him. he has promised to
never leave you or forsake you (
hebrews 13:5). read his word, believe it
and live every minute of your life knowing he has a plan and purpose for you to fulfill! claim this verse, memorize it and
live in its victory! for i know the plans i have for you, declares the lord. plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans
to give you hope and a future (
jeremiah 29:11 niv paraphrased).
